AIRCRAFT MAINTENANCE ENGINEERING

  • The maintenance engineers of the aviation industry are backbone of any Airline. They are among the most elite groups of individuals who draw attractive salary package and are respected for their professionalism, dedication and hard work throughout the world.
  • As we know that an aircraft is very expensive and sophisticated machine which needs precise handling and proper maintenance. To accomplish this highly skilled task, trained personnel are required who should be thoroughly conversant with the aircraft and its systems.
  • All technical work on the Aircraft is carried out under Authority of a DGCA licensed Aircraft Maintenance Engineer. AME is responsible to certify the Aircraft to be Airworthy before each flight.

Aircraft Maintenance Engineering course is a Basic course, approved by Director General of Civil Aviation, Govt. of India, required for entering the field of Maintenance and repair of aircraft and its accessories. Students are trained, during the course in the Academy, to obtain AME license from DGCA.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Minimum age 16 yrs
  • Passed 10 +2 in science subjects (P&M) with min. 50% in aggregate in Physics and Mathematics or a higher qualification in science from recognised Board/University.

OR

  • Three years Diploma in any branch of Engineering

Medical Fitness:

It is compulsory for the candidate to submit prescribed medical fitness certificate before admission.

Course Duration:

Total duration for this course is three years arranged in six semesters for theory and practical classes. The concept of theory and practical classes will not only develop a manual skill essential for AME but also give thorough concept of Aircraft and its systems to the students. They study and practice in Institute for five semesters and in the final (Sixth) semester, they do their practical training with an airline, which may be arranged by the Institute or students can do so by their own.

B.TECH (AERONAUTICS)

Aeronautical engineering is one of the most popular courses in engineering. Training in aeronautical engineering can get you your dream job in a prestigious organization.  To get admission in Aeronautical Engineering, you need to qualify the senior secondary examination with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics as compulsory subjects along with a good aggregate percentage.

To become a  Aeronautical Engineer candidates should have good observation power and an analytical bent of mind. You should also be a good communicator and active manager besides being healthy and fit. A student who does not have a sharp eye sight or is color blind will not qualify to become an aeronautical engineer even though he may be academically brilliant

Aeronautical Engineering Course imparts multi-faceted training to students in areas like manufacturing and development of aircraft and missiles. An aeronautical engineer can also use  his expertise to design, test and contribute to the development of advanced technologies in the field of defense and space science

In India aeronautical engineers are mostly employed by ISRO,  (Indian Space Research Organization) Defense Ministry,  Civil Aviation Department, National Aeronautical Laboratory, Defense Research and Development Laboratories (DRDO) and Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL). A lot of job opportunities for aeronautical engineers are also available in the countries like United States of America, France, UK and Germany. Therefore, aeronautical engineers from India as well as from all other parts of the world flock to these countries. A good percentage of Indians constitute the work force of engineers and technical professionals in NASA

The Aeronautical Society of India - http://www.aesi-hyd.com/

The Society, established in 1948, conducts Associate Membership Examination consisting of two sections (Section A and Section B). Section A has eight compulsory papers. A candidate who has passed 10+2 examination with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics, obtaining 50% or more marks in each subject is eligible for appearing in this examination. In addition, candidates possessing other qualifications, as detailed in the prospectus, are also eligible. Section B has eight specialist streams, each consisting of seven papers. Those who have completed the Section A Examination are eligible to appear in the Section B Examination. However, candidates possessing a degree in any branch of engineering can directly appear in Section B. They will, however, be required to appear and pass in the subject “Principles of Flight” of Section A. The marks allotted to each subject are 100. Pass marks in each subject are 50. Examinations are half twice a year, in June and December, in nine centres. Successful candidates are designated as Associate Member of the Aeronautical Society of India (AMAeSI) which is recognized as equivalent to B.Tech (Aeronautical Engineering).

The specialisations includes in areas like structural design, navigational guidance and control systems, instrumentation and communication or production methods or it can be in a particular product such as military aircrafts, passenger planes, helicopters, satellites, rockets etc. Engineers may work in areas like design, development, maintenance as well as in the managerial and teaching posts in institutes. They find a very good demand in airlines, aircraft manufacturing units, air turbine production plants or design development programmes for the aviation industry. Aerospace environment is sophisticated with rewarding career opportunities involving leading-edge technology.

Job Prospects & Career Options: Aeronautical Engineers work with one of the most technologically advanced branches of engineering. The main thrust in this area is on design and development of aircrafts to space and satellite research.

Remuneration: Engineers in government organisations, are paid official scales while those in the private sector are paid according to the scales decided by the management of the company.
